Italian Thistle
(Carduus pycnocephalus L.) This annual or occasionally biennial is spreading on roadsides and pastureland. A native of Southern Europe, this pest is out-competing native grasses in pastureland, resulting in lower land values for livestock forage. A Rhinocyllus weevil was introduced in the mid 1980's for biological control, but has not yet become a dominating control factor. |
