Weed List

Weeds are rated in categories -- "A", "B", "C", "Q" and "D". The following are all weeds under each category with first common name (what you and I refer to them as) and then secondly scientific name (what agencies refer to them as). There will only be four categories -- "A", "B", "C" and "Q" -- listed. No "D" rated weeds are shown -- they're plants that just couldn't make the list so they failed becoming an official California weed!

Click here for instructions on what to do if you find any of these weeds.

If you think you have one of the above weeds in your pasture, see it along a trail or find it growing in your favorite horsecamp, go to the "Weed Photos & Descriptions" page. Here you will find a color picture and descripton of EACH of the above weeds. Weeds are listed alphabetically for easy reference. Simply select the weed you're interested in, point, click and view. If you want to print the page, do so. Then compare it to the weed in question and if it is a weed, notify your local County Agriculture Commissioner (found on the "County Ag Commissioners" page). They will tell you what action to take -- pull it up or leave it for their viewing!

(The above Pest Ratings of Noxious Weed Species and Noxious Weed Seed (dated 1-6-99) was provided by the State of California Department of Food and Agriculture Division of Plant Health & Pest Prevention Services as the MOST current list available.)
