|Tree of Heaven
This perennial native of East Asia was introduced by immigrants during the Gold Rush area.
This tree has become not only a pest by out-competing native vegetation, but does major damange to roadways, sidewalks, structures and orchards with its extensive root system.
This tree was once planted in cities because of its tolerance to smoke and poor soil conditions.
The flowers are unisecual or bisexual and are borne in large terminal clusters in the summer months.
